Maret typically admits new students during our expansion years: kindergarten, first, fourth, sixth, seventh, ninth, and tenth grades.

Expansion years are the grades in which Maret typically enrolls new students. The expansion years at Maret are kindergarten, first, fourth, sixth, seventh, ninth, and tenth grades.  We do accept applications for non-expansion years (second, third, fifth, eighth, eleventh and twelfth grades). However, we only admit students to these grades if spaces become available.

Lower School

Kindergarten: 20 new students with two teachers
First Grade: 5-7 new students; grade splits into two sections
Fourth Grade: 7-10 new students

Middle School

Sixth Grade: 10-15 new students
Seventh Grade: 5-10 new students

Upper School

Ninth Grade: 20-25 new students
Tenth Grade: 6-8 new students
Eleventh Grade: 1-2 new students

We strongly suggest that parents schedule a small group tour, offered September through January. Led by an admission officer, parents visit our elementary school classrooms and campus facilities. Parents are encouraged to ask questions during and after the tour.

Parent Interview (Optional)

Maret offers optional parent interviews for families applying to the Lower School. Parent interview appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Children's Small Group Visit (Required for kindergarten, first, and fourth Grades)

Once we receive your Lower School application, we require that students applying to kindergarten, first and fourth grades visit Maret. (Visits for children applying to second and third grade are scheduled only if a space for admission becomes available.) The small group visit is for elementary school students only; parents do not need to remain on campus during the visit. You can schedule your child’s visit through your online account once you have submitted an application.

  • Application must be received by our Admission Office before your child's visit is scheduled.
  • Parents may schedule student visits through their online account after application is submitted.

Transcript (Required if available)

Families applying to kindergarten through third grade should submit a transcript or progress report if it is available. Families applying to the fourth grade are required to submit a transcript. Parents and/or guardians will need to complete the Transcript Release Form and give it to the current school, in order for the applicant's transcript to be made available and sent to Maret. The transcript should reflect the grades from the applicants’ current school year.

Teacher Recommendations & Testing

Teacher Recommendations (Required primary teacher)

Families applying to the Lower School will need to submit one recommendation from their child’s primary classroom teacher. Teachers should mail their recommendations directly to Maret. While we do accept additional recommendations, they are not necessary and applicants should not feel they need submit additional recommendations to be considered seriously for admission

If you applied for admission for 2012-2013 school year and are re-applying for admission for the 2013-2014 school year, you do not need to have updated testing completed.

Middle School Admission Process (fifth - eighth grades)

Small Group Tour & Interview

Small Group Student and Parent Tour (encouraged)

Led by an admission officer and often accompanied by an Upper School student, small groups of no more than 10 students and parents tour the Middle School and campus facilities.  Academics and student life at Maret are highlighted. Tours are offered daily in the mornings, except for major holidays, exam weeks and other days when classes are not in session. Students applying to Maret are encouraged to attend the small group tour with their parents and/or guardians.

Interview (Required for 6th and 7th grade applicants)

Students applying to Maret will meet with an admission officer or member of the teaching faculty. These “getting to know you” interviews last 25-30 minutes, and are followed by a discussion with the applicant’s parents and/or guardians for an additional 25-30 minutes. Interviews are offered most weekdays. Interviews for 5th and 8th grade applicants are scheduled if space for admission becomes available.

Upper School Admission Process (ninth - twelfth grades)

Small Group Tour, Interview, Shadow Visit

Small Group Tour (Strongly encouraged before admission interview)

An admission officer accompanied by an Upper School student leads a group of no more than 10 across campus for a 60-minute walking tour of the high school and campus facilities. Following the walking tour, student and their parents/guardians are invited to spend some time with an admission officer where the admission process is highlighted. Tours are offered most school days in the mornings, except on major holidays, during exam weeks, and on other days when classes are not in session. Applicants are encouraged to attend the small group tour with their parents and/or guardians. Please note, the Admission Office offers separate tours for students applying to 9th grade and students applying to 10th and 11th grades.

Shadow Visit (Optional)

On certain dates, the Admission Office offers upper school applicants the opportunity to spend the day with an upper school student.  Shadow visits are optional and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Lunch is included.
