Campus

Maret School is an independent, coeducational, K-12, day school located on a single campus. Set on more than 7 acres amid the vast resources of Washington, D.C., the site itself is historic: it was once considered for the Capitol and in the nineteenth century became the summer residence of several Presidents.

Maret was founded in 1911 by Louise Maret, a teacher born in Switzerland and educated in the United States. From its beginnings as a French school primarily for girls, Maret had greatly expanded and changed by 1952. In that year, the School moved to its present location on the former Woodley Oaks Estate on Cathedral Avenue and became a coeducational, college preparatory school.
