  • Carlotta Hester Exhibit

    Art teacher Carlotta Hester '86 will be showing her recent works at a solo exhibit entitled "Elemental Journey" at Govinda Gallery, April 18 - May 31.

  • Institute for Curriculum Innovation and Excellence

    At their December meeting, the Maret Board of Trustees announced their enthusiastic support of the new Institute for Curriculum Innovation and Excellence that will launch this summer. The institute, modeled after the FACA Program at the Park School in Baltimore, will allow faculty to work on curriculum development while being compensated at professional levels of pay for this work.   • Area Schools Visit Maret's Language Department

    The Friends Central School from Penn. participated in a day-long professional development field trip where they met with Language Department Chair Jaime Estrada and visited Maret's language classes as an example of an innovative approach and curriculum.

    Teachers from Potomac School visited Karen Adamson's third grade class and Erika Eason's fifth grade class exploring ways to implement an earlier Spanish language program at their school.

  • Service Learning: Honduras

    Language teacher Karen Adamson initiated a service learning project with her students in conjunction with the Honduras ISW last year to donate 40 desks to the La Pintada school in Honduras. The school received the much-needed desks this fall and were so appreciative of the donation.

  • Africa In The Classroom

    Librarian Sheree White attended the Africa in the Classroom workshop hosted at Maret this fall. The guest speakers presented resources, ideas, and travel suggestions for bringing Africa into classroom in a way that avoids stereotypes and gives the students a deeper understanding and awareness.
