Planning for the big night

February 23 is in full swing!
The Decorations workshop was very productive thanks to the invaluable help of all the volunteers who gave up part or all of their weekend. The Maret Auction Amazon rain forest is taking shape!
Tables for the Live Auction are being assembled as RSVP’s are received. Please make sure you send your response card by February 13th. If you do not have a pre-arranged table, you are in the majority, and the Auction Committee will be happy to place you at a table with a compatible group.
Feeling lucky? “Best of Live” raffle tickets are back by popular demand. There are only 150 tickets and for $100 you can buy the chance to get any Live item of your choice. You can buy as many tickets as your heart desires. Tickets are available at the Development Office and can be purchased over the phone. Online purchasing will also be available soon.
The catalog is printing even as you read these lines. Expect to receive your copy in plenty of time to explore every category and plan your bidding. As you browse through your catalog, keep these tips in mind:
- There is no Last Chance this year and all of the wonderful items that were once housed in that category have been re-assigned to the relevant Silent Auction section. As part of the Silent Auction, these items will now have the Guaranteed Bid option.
- There are a few wonderful items with Date Alerts, meaning that they require special attention for having dates that are very close to the Auction:
- Washington Wizards VIP Floor Seats: the first game is on March 2, the second game is on March 17; Live Auction.
- Four Tickets to Bon Jovi concert on February 28
- Two Club Level seats for Georgetown vs. St. John’s basketball game on February 27
- In both the Silent and Live Auctions, there are many parties and dinners that lend themselves to group bidding. Get a group of interested people and pool your resources to bid on these fun events. Some examples are:
- Casino Extravaganza for 50 people in the Live Auction
- Festive Mexican Mariachi & Margarita Fiesta for 30 in Gourmet Maret
- Barbeque Party for 50 and Glorious Gospel Music in the Live Auction
- Keep your calendar handy when you are looking at the catalog because there are fixed date events like the Sign-ups and many many trips!
