July 6th-10th, 2015
9am - 3pm
Do you love Minecraft? Have you always wanted to learn how to code your own game? Then this is the camp for you! We will spend the week building worlds in Minecraft and building our own games in Scratch and other coding languages. In addition to this we explore the world of video games and what goes into creating games. You do not need to have any experience with Minecraft or coding, we will teach each kid to their level of expertise. If you have an existing Minecraft account this camp will allow you to keep working on your own project as well as team up with others to build some amazing things together! This camp will run from 9-3 and will feature several breaks to go in the gym and get some energy out!
Outdoor Exploration Camp
Grades (rising) 4-8 ONLY
June 15 - 19, 2015
Outdoor Exploration Camp is designed for students to explore the opportunities for outdoor enrichment within and beyond the borders of our city. Through collaboration and personal challenge, students develop an understanding of the natural world around them. Our goals is to promote personal growth through exposure to new and exciting environments and situations, ultimately leading to an appreciation for what the outdoors has to offer. Emphasis will be on how to safely have fun in the woods.
For this five day camp, students will participate in a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, bouldering, orienteering, geocaching and survival skills/first aid. All day trips will be within a short drive of Maret, and utilize the public spaces in the District, Maryland, and Virginia. No outdoor experience is necessary, but an open mind is a must! Participants will bring a bag lunch and water bottle each day. Space is limited to 27 students.
