It's time to reserve your child's space in one of our fun-filled summer activities at Maret! Choose from our ever-popular Movie Camp, Boys Football Camp, and Girls Soccer, and Volleyball Athletic Clinics! Programs available for boys and girls entering grades 2-12 in 2008-09.
MOVIE CAMP - FULL
Boys & Girls entering grades 3-8

Lights... camera... action! Learn how to direct, star in, and produce your own movie, sports highlight tape, or rock video. This camp teaches students all the things they need to know to be on their way to Hollywood stardom. Working with the latest in digital camera and camcorder technology, students learn basic principles of moviemaking and spend the week creating their own movies using iMovie software. We use Apple's latest computers to create our masterpieces. Each student will leave at the end of the week with a copy of their finished product to cherish forever. Spaces are limited!

The Girls Basketball clinic emphasizes small-group instruction in team tactics and individual skill development for the novice and experienced
player. The specific team concepts emphasized are quick transitions and spacing. The individual skills emphasized are ball handling, passing,
shooting, defense, and rebounding. Drills are fun and competitive and each day includes scrimmaging. Athletes must wear appropriate athletic shoes and provide their own lunch and water bottle.
WRESTLING CAMP

This camp is an introductory to intermediate technical camp for rising fifth through ninth graders. It will be run by alum Matt Gittleman '06 (Franklin & Marshall '10, Division 1), other Maret wrestling alumni, Franklin & Marshall wrestlers, and some guest technicians. Guest technicians may include one or two nationally ranked wrestlers from American University. A typical day will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and will, depending on numbers and weights, include a warm-up, technical lesson and drill, live matches, wrestling type game, lunch and wrestling video or movie, followed by tournament-style wrestling in the afternoon.
BOYS FOOTBALL

Each participant in this non-contact fundamentals football clinic will receive instruction in all aspects of football. The focus of the camp is to learn how to play football the right way and have fun doing it. The last 45 minutes of each day will be games.

The Co-ed Soccer clinic offers players a variety of activities to enhance individual skills and team play. Instruction includes dribbling, shooting, passing, receiving, and foot skills. Campers may participate in a half-day program from 9:00-12:00 or a full-day program, from 9:00-3:00. Campers who are participating for a full day should bring a bag lunch. All campers should wear the proper shoes and bring a soccer ball and water bottle.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Full-day clinic is offered to athletes interested in sharpening technical and tactical skills as well as conditioning in preparation for junior varsity and varsity competition. Previous volleyball experience is not required. Athletes must wear appropriate athletic shoes and provide their own lunch and water bottle. Due to limited enrollment, preference is given to Maret athletes.
SUMMER TRIPS
Sanibel
A 23-year Maret tradition, Subtropical Zone Ecology is a six-week summer school course on Sanibel Island on Florida's Gulf Coast and Marathon Key in the Florida Keys. Contact science teacher Jen Mandeville.
Costa Rica
Learn more about this trip that offers a combination of language learning, a study of ecotourism, and service to the community. Contact Lower School Assistant Director Chris Appleby '80.
Ethiopia
The trip will take place mid-July a provide students a rich service learning and cultural immersion experience. Contact science teacher Kerry O'Brien or humanities teacher Carol Rhees for more information.
