Fifth Grade Science & Math Teacher

Maret is looking for an inspiring and engaging fifth grade science and math teacher who embraces different teaching and learning styles while appreciating this special time in the lives of young students. The ideal candidate will embrace this unique opportunity to encourage and develop curiosity, keen observation, and critical thinking. Maret seeks a teacher who creates innovative lessons, is able to design curriculum to address the needs of students today and into the future, and welcomes being part of a team that values and affirms every member of the community.

In addition to teaching math and science in an interdisciplinary manner to two separate cohorts, the teacher in this position serves as an advisor to a group of fifth grade students and, along with other advisors, plans community activities and supports student growth.

Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment for equity and inclusion in their work. Full-time positions include one or more community responsibilities; experience in computer science and/or coaching is a plus. This position is supervised by the Middle School Director.

As a teacher, the successful candidate will:

  • Have demonstrated expertise in teaching science and mathematics at the middle school level, ideally in an interdisciplinary manner
  • Teach responsible citizenship and judicious use of technology as it relates to math and science
  • Display excellent classroom management skills and enthusiasm for working with middle school students  
  • Be committed to professional development and collaboration with colleagues across disciplines
  • Exhibit a deep passion for teaching and great enthusiasm for working with students of all ages and differing strengths
  • Have a master’s degree (preferred)
