Upper School Chemistry and Physics Teacher (Full-time)

Maret School is looking for an inspiring and engaging chemistry and physics teacher. Ideal candidates will have the ability to teach ninth and tenth graders; place the individual learner at the center of the learning process; embrace different teaching and learning styles, and show a facility and nimbleness with technology.

Members of our faculty regularly collaborate with colleagues within the science department and cross-departmentally and stretch themselves as educators. Responsibilities include teaching two sections of chemistry and two sections of physics in addition to serving as an advisor. We seek a teacher who loves creating innovative lessons and courses, designing curriculum that addresses the needs of our students today and into the future, and being part of a team that values and affirms every member of our community.

Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in their work. The position includes one or more community responsibilities and is supervised by the Chair of the Science Department.

As a teacher, the successful candidate will:

  • Have demonstrated expertise in teaching chemistry and physics at the upper school level;
  • Display excellent classroom management skills and enthusiasm for working with upper school students;
  • Be committed to professional development and collaboration with colleagues;
  • Exhibit a deep passion for teaching and interest in working with students of all ages and differing strengths;
  • Have a minimum of three years teaching experience;
  • Have an advanced degree in science or related field (preferred).
