Maret hosts athletic contests in our gyms and on our fields at 3000 Cathedral Avenue, as well as on Barrett Fields at our athletic facility at 5900 Nebraska Avenue in Chevy Chase, DC.  We welcome Frog fans and visiting teams to all our athletic venues!

Maret has a multipurpose field for football, soccer, and lacrosse, as well as a regulation size baseball field at Barrett Fields in Chevy Chase, DC. Please check the Athletic Calendar to determine if the game you will be attending is located at Maret's main campus in Woodley Park or Barrett Fields.

Guidelines for Visitors to Barrett Fields

Given the location of Barrett Fields amidst family homes, we ask all athletes and spectators to adhere to the following guidelines for community use.
 
Traffic and Parking
  • Parking is limited. Please consider using public transportation, carpools, or ride-sharing to travel to the fields.
  • Park in the parking lot when spots are available.
  • Obey all traffic laws and parking regulations when driving and parking in the neighborhood.
  • No cars or pedestrian access to the fields are allowed via the adjacent alleys.
  • No idling of cars or buses.
Athletes, Spectators, and other Visitors
  • Spectators are encouraged to use available seating in bleachers.
  • No amplified sound allowed.
  • No cowbells, horns, instruments, or other noise-making items allowed.
  • No food (including sunflower seeds and gum) or drink (other than water) are allowed on the fields. Food and drink are allowed outside the field fencing. 
  • No spectators are allowed in the adjacent alleys or on neighbor’s properties.
  • No alcohol.
  • No dogs.

Community and Neighborhood Use of Barrett Fields

When not in use by Maret, youth sports organizations have scheduled rental use of the fields, and there are defined hours for neighborhood use. The hours listed below were set forth in the Board of Zoning Adjustment's order of approval and through agreement with the ANC 3/4g. Questions about the use of the fields should be directed to Trey Holloway at BarrettFieldsInfo@maret.org.

Preseason

During preseason, Maret will use the fields 8am–6:00pm M-F. Neighbors may use the fields weekends.

 

  • Maret will use the athletic facilities as practice space for its students between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on weekdays.
  • The athletic facilities will be available for community use on the weekends.

Fall

Fields will be used by Maret, outside youth sports orgs, ECC and DCPS students, and neighbors.

 

  • On weekdays (Monday through Friday), the athletic facilities will be available for use by ECC and District of Columbia Public School (“DCPS”) public and charter school students between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 or 3:00 p.m. (depending on the day).
  • From Monday through Thursday, the athletic facilities will be reserved for use by Maret’s students for practices and games from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and for youth sports organizations from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • On Fridays, the athletic facilities will be reserved for games involving Maret’s students from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • On Saturdays, the athletic facilities will be used for games involving Maret’s students or for youth sports activities between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  • On Sundays, the athletic facilities will be reserved for use by youth sports organizations from 11:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and available for community use from 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Winter

M-F the fields will be open 9am-5pm for ECC and DCPS use. Weekend availability for neighbors.

 

  • On weekdays (Monday through Friday), the subject property will be open between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The athletic facilities will be available for use by ECC and DCPS students between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and by youth sports organizations between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
  • On Saturdays and Sundays, the athletic facilities will be available for community use.

Spring

Fields will be used by Maret, outside youth sports organizations, ECC & DCPS students, & neighbors.

Summer

In summer, camps have 9am–3pm M-F. Youth sports teams have Sat 10am-5pm & neighbors have Sundays.

 

  • The athletic facilities will be reserved for youth sports camps between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on weekdays (Monday through Friday) and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m on Saturdays.
  • The athletic facilities will available for community use on Sundays.
