Wide World of Sports and Games Camp
- June 24-28, 2024
- July 22-26, 2024
Ages: Rising 3rd-5th graders
If your child likes to play, have fun, and engage in friendly competition, then this is the camp for you! The bulk of the day will feature a variety of sports and games, board games, friendly tournaments, and a short movie or sports clip. Basketball, soccer, Wiffle Ball, dodgeball, Stone Tag, Capture the Flag, Footgolf, and Spikeball are a sample of some of the outdoor games that will be played. Many of the classic board games will be covered, as well as new favorites like Ticket to Ride, Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow, Mysterium, and Spy Alley. There will also be three “water days” during the week that will include a giant squirt gun and water balloon fight. In addition to the joy of play, sportsmanship and teamwork will be a constant theme throughout the week. Participants will have many opportunities to practice their sportsmanship skills and reflect on how to be a more supportive teammate. No athletic or game experience is necessary. Space is limited to the first 18 students each week.
- Participants should provide their own lunch (that does not need to be refrigerated) and a water bottle.
- We do not offer before or after care for summer camps.
Nate Stone has been a third grade teacher at the Maret School for the past 15 years and has run this summer camp for three summers in the past. A core part of his teaching philosophy is making learning and school fun. As an athlete and board game player himself, Nate loves leading this camp because it gives him a chance to model and play a number of games that his campers can continue to enjoy for the rest of the summer and into the fall.
