Campers will flex their writing muscles as they write about topics of interest in a variety of genres (narrative, opinion, information, poetry). With expert guidance, they will practice taking an idea through the writing process with an emphasis on planning, drafting, revising, and editing. Daily activities will include reading and studying published texts for inspiration, partner and group work to share ideas and feedback, independent writing time, and student-teacher conferences. Students will also take a walking field trip to write poetry in an inspirational natural setting. The week will end with a celebration in which students share a favorite piece in the "Author's Chair."
