Traffic Guidelines

Safety is our top priority. Please be patient and polite when driving to and on campus and follow all traffic laws and signs.

  • The speed limit is 20 mph or less in the neighborhood and 10 mph or less on campus
  • Obey the officer or Maret employee directing traffic
  • Avoid cell phone use
  • Watch for students crossing the driveway

Please keep Cathedral Avenue passable when coming to campus:

  • No one may make a left hand turn onto campus from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. or from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. (M, T, TH, F) and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. (W).
  • Alleyway cut-throughs (such as Cortland at Cathedral directly in front of the School) must not be used.
  • Between the hours of 9:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. (M, T, TH, F) and 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. (W), cars may enter only via the secure gate at the east end of campus.

Parking:

  • If you are visiting campus, there are a few visitor spaces across from the kindergarten cottage. If you do not see an open visitor space, please park off campus. Be sure to follow any instructions from Security or Maret employees when parking on campus.
  • In the neighborhood, no parking is allowed on Cathedral Avenue between Woodley and 29th Street, Garfield Terrace, and Hawthorne Street. See Map. In addition, follow all parking laws and signs in the neighborhood.
  • Absent a specially noted exceptions, there is no parking on the circle driveway during the academic day, which is a designated fire lane and must be kept clear.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Trey Holloway at 202-939-8821.
