Physical Education & Athletics
Maret believes that fitness is essential to wellbeing and that athletics teach important life skills that extend beyond the physical. Hard work, personal accomplishment, good sportsmanship, self-discipline, and cooperation are taught at every grade level, K-12.
Curriculum Snapshot
Lower School physical education classes are held four times a week.
Middle School Fifth and sixth graders focus on team skills and individual sports strategies. By seventh and eighth grades, students of all abilities use and expand upon these skills through interscholastic soccer, football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, and lacrosse.
Upper School Team sports continue to be central to Maret’s education through high school, when students choose from interscholastic team sports; individual concentrations such as martial arts, dance, and weight training; a general PE class; or independent study.
