Maret Appoints Meg Goldner Rabinowitz as Associate Head of School

Head of School Dennis Bisgaard announces the appointment of Meg Goldner Rabinowitz as Associate Head of School for Program, beginning July 1, 2025. Rabinowitz brings great depth and breadth of experience to the role, with more than 30 years of experience as a classroom teacher and administrator in independent schools.

"Having worked with Meg in the past, I know, value, and appreciate her deep insights into education and independent schools; her resourceful, creative, and flexible problem solving skills; and her collaborative working style,” says Bisgaard. “Meg always keeps mission, students, and what is in the best interest of the school community at heart, and she is able to help identify and shape deliberate and purposeful paths forward."

Rabinowitz joins the Maret community from Georgetown Day School where she is the Associate Head of School overseeing their preK–12 academic program and faculty hiring, engagement, and retention efforts. Previously, she was Assistant Head and then Acting Head of School at Northwest School in Seattle. While there, she worked with Bisgaard who was brought in by the board at Northwest to be Interim Head of School. Together, they led the school through COVID while facing civil unrest unfolding on the West Coast.

“What excites me about Maret is a shared sense of community values and purpose,” says Rabinowitz. “The mission feels like it is at the center of all decision-making. Maret students, faculty, families, and Board members share a love of learning and a dedication to joyful well-being — all while participating in a diverse and dynamic community.”

Rabinowitz began her career in education in Philadelphia at Germantown Friends School (GFS), where she taught English, humanities, and media studies and held a variety of administrative roles, including Director of College Counseling, 11th Grade Academic Dean, and Site Director of the Global Online Academy at GFS. During this time, she also became an adjunct professor in The Graduate School for Education at the University of Pennsylvania.

"As an educator from a Quaker school who believes in unreserved respect for all individuals, Maret's dedication to ‘igniting our students' potential’ speaks to my heart," says Rabinowitz. "I also believe that faculty, administrators, families, and Board members are lifelong learners whose sparks need to be valued and nurtured."

Rabinowitz holds an MS in education and educational leadership from The Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in English from the University of Pennsylvania. “Having been raised Jewish, the concept of tikkun olam or ‘healing the world’ is part of what has called me to the field of education,”Rabinowitz explains. And what sustains her? “I am forever striving, forever growing, forever learning more about what I do not know.”

The Maret community looks forward to welcoming Meg Goldner Rabinowitz. Families are invited to greet her at the Community Coffee on May 9, 8:00–10:00am.
